Comparison
Vimeo alternatives, compared honestly
We host video too, so read this knowing we are not neutral. We have still tried to describe each option as its own users would.
First: do you actually need to move?
If your renewal increase is modest and your videos are embedded in dozens of places, staying may genuinely be cheaper than switching once you count your own time. Moving hosts is worth it when the price jump is large, when you were already unhappy, or when you want features Vimeo charges separately for.
The options
Wistia
$79–$319/mo- Strength
- Best marketing tooling — lead capture, A/B testing, heatmaps, strong analytics.
- Weakness
- Expensive, and plans are capped by video count (Pro is 50 videos, Advanced 250).
- Best for
- Marketing teams who use video to generate leads and have the budget.
SproutVideo
$10–$295/mo- Strength
- Strong privacy and access controls, branded players, detailed analytics.
- Weakness
- Less marketing tooling than Wistia; interface is functional rather than lovely.
- Best for
- Teams who need private, access-controlled video more than lead generation.
Spotlightr
Varies by plan- Strength
- Security-focused — HLS encryption, domain-level privacy, anti-download protections.
- Weakness
- Narrower feature set outside of security and player customisation.
- Best for
- Course creators worried about their paid content being copied.
Bunny Stream
Usage-based, from ~$0.005/GB- Strength
- By far the cheapest at volume. Excellent global delivery. Genuinely good API.
- Weakness
- It is infrastructure, not a product. You get an API and a player, not a polished app.
- Best for
- Developers who want to build their own thing on top.
YouTube
Free- Strength
- Free, infinite scale, and it is also a discovery engine.
- Weakness
- Ads and suggested videos pull your customers away. Little control over the experience.
- Best for
- Anyone whose goal is reach rather than a controlled on-site experience.

The thing most comparisons skip
Every one of these will happily take your money. Almost none of them will move your library for you. You download your videos one at a time, re-upload them one at a time, then hunt through your website replacing every embed code by hand.
For a library of two hundred videos that is a genuinely miserable job, and it is the single biggest reason people stay on a host they have already decided to leave. The switching cost is not the money. It is the afternoon.
Early access
That's the part we built first
Connect Vimeo, we copy your entire library across, and hand you a map of every old URL to its new embed so nothing on your site breaks. Free when you switch.

We are cheaper than Wistia and include things it charges extra for — automatic captions, searchable transcripts across your whole library, auto-generated chapters and social clips. We are not cheaper than Bunny Stream, and if you are a developer happy to build on raw infrastructure, Bunny is the honest recommendation.
We are for people who want the video handled rather than assembled.
